Monica got in touch with me because she was leaving her day job and looking to get back to her creative side, so she needed help building her brand. She had blogged for years and then ended up stopping because other things in her life became more important. However, now she desires to create a strategic and professional online presence once again to support her creative endeavors. This time, she hopes to monetize her platform, as well.
Monica hoped to accomplish a few different things with her new blog – primarily blogging about farm life, life fueling the creative process, home / garden projects, and sharing her artwork and projects in a place where lifestyle fuels the creative process and the projects are about creative living.
The first thing we got started on was establishing Monica’s brand strategy, which is the first step I take with all of my clients. Once we completed that, I brought her brand to life by combining a simple, modern serif with a beautifully detailed botanical illustration. The two together speaks to a clean design with handmade elements, and I truly think it turned out absolutely beautifully.
Building off of Monica’s branding, my goal with the website was to make sure it was minimal and modern and that it didn’t look like a templated Squarespace site. I did this by focusing on a nice balance of whitespace with clean, customized details around the site.
