This past weekend I printed new photos for our photo album, and we ended up quickly flipping through this year’s album so far. It’s so crazy to see how much Emma has grown, and it’s so hard to believe she’s already 7 months old. I think this has been one of her most eventful months yet in terms of milestones, and it’s absolutely bittersweet. I am so excited that she’s growing up, but I already miss my little baby. I’ve said this every single month, but this time it feels more emotional: time, please slow down.
Okay, so I know that was a super sappy opening, so let’s just get to the fun stuff!
She started sleeping in her crib at night and also sleeping through the night! The day we got back from Tennessee (which was a rough day of probably 12 hours in the car), we went on ahead and let her sleep in her crib. After a few nights, she magically started sleeping through the night without any sleep training. She still wakes up here and there but can get back to sleep on her own. If she didn’t eat well that day, then I’ll let her nurse, but for the most part we’re not doing that at night anymore.
We started food toward the end of month 4, I think, but I wasn’t consistently giving it to her until just a couple of weeks ago. We’ve learned that she likes savory foods more than fruits, and currently her favorite is green beans. Right now she’s getting 1-2 “meals” a day, one around lunch and then another (if needed) around dinner time.
Going right along with food, she has seemed to pick up drinking through a straw. We’d been giving it to her once every day after her “lunch” and it seems like it finally paid off! She drank a little water from it over the weekend.
A couple of other random things: she’s graduated to sitting in the shopping cart while we’re out, she’s moving around in her walker a lot more, and she’s been babbling a little. Oh, and we’ve gotten a few days where she’s rolled over in her crib, so I’m curious to see if she becomes a stomach sleeper like me.
- Weight: 13.6 lbs
- Wearing: Still 3M + size 1 diapers.
- Sleeping: 11-12 hours a night, finally, thank goodness!!
An awesome accomplishment
As crazy as this sounds, I’ve only been out to eat with Emma 3 times I believe before this past weekend. Between my husband being gone and just not wanting to deal with potential craziness, I’ve avoided it as much as I could. However, this past weekend we went out to lunch with her, and she did really well. She sat in the high chair and looked around and played with a few of her toys the whole time. I’m happy she did well because we like having lunch dates occasionally, so it’ll be nice to hopefully do those a little more now.
