It’s hard to believe that I’ve been working with clients for 6 years now, but it was in 2012 that I got started doing design work. I’ve worked with a variety of clients – from interior designers, photographers, bloggers, women in the fitness industry, and so much more. Although my clients have come from different industries, there’s one thing that has helped all of them achieve success in their niche long after we’ve worked together: strategy.
While you could say (and I won’t disagree with you) that it takes strategy to grow your brand, so it’s obvious those clients have seen growth since working with me. However, when you’re working with a designer, nailing down your brand strategy as a whole can help shape the direction you go in with your business as well as the decisions you end up making.
Think about it like this: if you don’t know your why or your audience and what matters to them, then you’re kind of stuck with your business. It leaves you without a purpose for your business, and it means you’re likely going to have a difficult time connecting with your audience in a way that leads to making money.
Aside from how a brand strategy can help you guide your business, it also helps me when I’m working on the design for your brand or website. For example, I ask all of my clients about their competition and if there’s anything that they do that’s different from the way their competitors work. To some people, considering their differences isn’t something they give a second thought to, but if you have a special story behind your brand or process you take with your clients, then I want to try to highlight that in a special way that’s going to help you stand out.
Because at the end of the day, we start our businesses to pursue our passions and to make money. You want your business to fulfill you on both sides of that because if not, you’ll end up feeling burnt out, broke, and like you’re ready to give it all up.
