It’s been so long since I’ve shared recent work that this project isn’t exactly new anymore, but I still wanted to share it here on the blog. I love sharing my work with you guys, so I’m excited to finally be getting this one up here.
Last year seemed to be the year I worked with repeat clients, and I absolutely loved it. Space on Third was a branding and blog design project for Amber, and if you’ve been following her for a while then you probably followed her along with her transition to this brand from her previous one. When she decided to change directions with her brand and blog as a whole, she reached out to me to partner on this design as well. I couldn’t have been more excited to work with her again.
Brand Inspiration
First up, as with any project is the moodboard. This one is fun because while I think it has a similar vibe as the inspiration for her previous brand, we were working with a very different color palette. Instead of muted blues and greys, this brand has deeper colors with a pop of brown. It feels very confident, and from seeing Amber transition into this new brand I truly believe that both she and this brand embody confidence!
As you can see in the moodboard versus the logo, the colors became a little richer in the final branding. While I love the colors in the moodboard, I absolutely believe that the stronger colors work much better for the brand as a whole.
The Brand + Blog Design
I truly love how this brand came together. It’s similar to the previous one, but as I mentioned before it stands out on its own. The colors are richer and we varied the typography a bit more in this brand. We play around a lot with symbols and shapes with this logo, which you can see more of in this post on Instagram. I had a lot of fun exploring different elements that would work well with the name but also communicate the keywords for the brand.
In addition to the fun and unique logo, we went for a much different blog design than what Amber previously had. This time we ditched the sidebar and went with a more strategic footer. We also included the category section, which is actually built into the customizer so it’s easy for Amber to swap out photos and categories should her focus ever shift.
Be sure to check out the live site here. If you don’t already follow Amber, I highly recommend checking out her content. The emphasis on lifestyle content was some of my inspiration when making a decision on what to do with my own blog this year.
