Happy new year, friends! I can’t believe that 2017 came and went so fast. It feels like it was literally just yesterday that I was writing this same post for last year. It’s funny because when I wrote last year’s post I was excited about all that was to come, but things quickly changed in my business, this blog, and personally. As excited as I was for last year, I ended up quietly stepping back from social media and my blog for a good chunk of the year. I’m hoping that this year is a lot different, though!
Before I sat down to write this post, it seemed like hardly anything of excitement (aside from Emma) happened this year, so it was fun to remember these things:
+ Launching the Get Back to Design podcast and recording about a million episodes this year with Krista
+ I designed and coded one of my favorite (and more complex) projects
+ We did some real adult stuff and bought a car, somewhat experienced the solar eclipse, and I read 19 books
+ Can’t forget that I launched my shop for designers, which took place of several educational products that I retired last year
+ I got re-inspired to blog, and ended up deciding to pave my own path with a mix of lifestyle + educational content around here
Just like last year, those things seem like not much, and when I look at the projects I launched last year I really begin to wonder what the heck I spent all year doing. However, we had another year with a few short deployments and another mandatory evacuation for a hurricane (which is very interesting when you’re super pregnant). But we also had fun things like my parents getting to visit us for the first time here in Georgia, decorating the nursery together, and just enjoying another year.
With the coming 12 months, I really have no clue what to expect. I know that having Emma will make things a lot more interesting than previous years, and I’m looking forward to watching her grow this year and experience things in new ways through her.
Here’s to a great 2018!
