You may have already seen the announcement, but in case you missed it the newest addition to our family is officially here! She was born on November 7th after a smooth labor and delivery, and we could not be happier or more excited to finally have her here.
When I finally announced to the world that this little babe was on her way, we pretty much knew her name, but I had decided to keep it to just ourselves. We decided to tell family and friends shortly before she was born that her name would be Emily Anne, and we plan to have her go by Emma (until she decides she’s grown out of the nickname, if that ever happens). A lot of people think my middle name is Mae because of my social media handles, but my actual middle name is Anne, which was passed down from my mom and we decided to pass that on to our little lady as well.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been nearly 3 weeks since Emma was born, but so far we’re all doing quite well. We’re so incredibly lucky that my guy was able to be off for two and a half weeks aside from one day of work he had while my parents were in town. I’ve been so grateful to be able to have an extra set of hands to pass her off to when I’ve gotten overwhelmed (hello crying baby and lack of sleep), to get a few extra hours of sleep, or to do things like shower (a whole new accomplishment with a baby, I’ve learned). I have always had a lot of respect for single moms, but experiencing being a mom with help has made my respect and admiration for single moms skyrocket.
For anyone who may be curious, Zoey is doing really well with Emma! I had a lot of anxiety about that throughout my pregnancy not because I was worried about her becoming aggressive necessarily, but I was worried her personality would change. She’s still the same ol’ pup, though.
I’m sure this little babe will be making more than just this appearance around here, but for now, here’s to a whole new adventure!
