Do you guys ever know that feeling where everything seems calm one second and then like craziness and chaos the next? That’s basically what things have been like around here for the last couple of weeks. We went from not knowing anything that was coming like where we were going to be moving to next to getting our orders and then trying to get as much done as possible as quickly as possible. The calm before the storm turned into a nice chaotic mess :)
A MOVE UPDATE For those of you who are keeping up with our military updates, we found out a few weeks ago that we’re heading to St. Marys, Georgia. We’re super excited because it’s exactly where we wanted to go since we’re not much further from our families than we’ve been in Charleston. We’ll be heading that way at the end of the month after spending some much needed time at home visiting family. If you’re in the southern Georgia or Jacksonville area, let me know! We’ll be there for a while, and I’m always up for grabbing coffee with y’all!
READING LATELY Good news: since my last Life + Loving post, I grabbed my Kindle and got to reading. I set a goal to read 100 books before my birthday this year (mid-October), and I’m not sure I’ll be able to reach that, but I’ll be content if I could get 100 books in the whole year. I’ve read a variety of genres already, but my favorite book was probably Blood Defense by Marcia Clark. I love the mystery / thriller genre, so it was perfect. I also read Balancing in Heels by Kristin Cavallari, and it was a nice peek into her life with some awesome recipes and workouts included!
SEEING LATELY Almost everyone came into town for D’s graduation a little over a week ago, and we spent some time exploring while they were here. We headed out to the Isle of Palms beach for a bit the following morning and later that day we went down to Fort Sumter, which is where the Civil War started. It was really fun to take our families to one of our favorite beaches and then even cooler to get to see a well preserved piece of history. My dad is a big history lover, so we knew we had to make it a point to go out while they were in town. The neat thing was that we got to take a ferry out to the island and then back just to get there.
IN OTHER NEWS I sort of low-key launched a new design for my sites, which are now just one, and I hope you guys like it! I’ve been itching to combine my portfolio and blog for a while because it’s a pain to manage both… seriously, I could go months without updating my portfolio, which isn’t great for business. I’ve got one more new thing that I’ll be launching in June, but for now you guys have the new look! Let me know if you find any broken links or errors around the site! I want to make hanging out on the blog a great experience for you guys, so don’t hesitate to let me know if something goes wrong or doesn’t look right.

Amber shared some great tips about networking that’s more than just “find the people with the most followers and be friends with them”.
I made sooo many mistakes with scheduling clients when I was just getting started, so I loved this post from Erin about the scheduling mistakes you should stop making.
I love seeing people succeed online, but not when they’re misleading the community so I loved Regina’s post on avoiding the 6-figure blogger suck. P.s. You’re more than how much you’re making online.
A few weeks ago I spent some time revamping old blog posts to boost my blog. If you want to do it as well, check out Allyssa’s 5 ways you can refresh your posts.
Almost every time I log into a client’s site there are at least 2+ plugin updates to be made, so I was thrilled to see Krista talk about why it’s important to update your plugins. P.s. Bloggers: if you don’t want to deal with site maintenance, she’s got the perfect new service for you!
Have you ever had a client ask you to copy something else for a different brand? Fiona shared how to deal with that, which is amazing because I know we’ve probably all encountered this issue.
