A Year In Review + Looking Forward

A Year In Review + Looking Forward

I have to be honest – I wasn’t totally sure I wanted to do a post like this for this past year. I usually do them the last week of December when I’m recapping all sorts of stuff, but I spent the past week full on relaxing. I’m talking binge watching tv shows, reading, and just flat out enjoying not having any responsibilities. It’s hard, though, to get back in the swing of things.

I know most people just love taking weeks off at a time, and I do, too, but it ends up being hard to get back to work, hard to want to get back to work. Once I have a little sliver of time off, especially something as long as my winter break is, I just want more. To help ease back into some sort of blogging schedule and, you know, work, I thought I’d reflect a little on the last year and share what I’m looking forward to over the next twelve months!

Here’s a look back over 2015:

+ We finally actually got settled in our first (real) house, which means I got my first ever office space.

+ After getting puppy fever on one random Saturday, we adopted Zoey.

+ Celebrated 3 years of blogging! (This means we’re dangerously close to 4 years!)

+ Wrote about 5 business skills that I (surprise!) didn’t learn in college.

+ Celebrated running my business full-time for one year.

+ Launched Craft Your Brand.

+ Discovered a new hobby that I absolutely adore!

+ Got interviewed for Jen Carrington’s Make It Happen podcast.

+ Met Caroline and had my picture taken.

+ Started selling stock photos over on Creative Market.

+ Toyed around with running for a good portion of the summer + also started Thriving

+ Wrote about 3 ways to put your email list to (better) use.

+ Got interviewed for the She Percolates podcast.

+ Ended up reading 53 books, which was well over my goal of 30 for the year.

In addition to all of those things that I shared around the web: D graduated two of his schoolings, we explored a variety of different places here in South Carolina, I hosted and co-hosted a variety of live events – including jumping on Periscope, I created a small mastermind group and have become so close to the other ladies in it, I watched a Star Wars movie (actually never thought that would happen), and I closed Postmark Society.

Now what I’m looking forward to in 2016:

+ Being a Creative Team member for Project Life (!!!)

+ Launching Kickstart Your List (!!!)

+ Finally actually working through My Own Irresistible Brand + rebranding and redesigning my online spaces

+ Blogging with intention – not just advice type posts but lifestyle stuff as well

+ Moving to a new place and finally furnishing the rest of our home

+ Reading 100 books

+ (Hopefully) getting my student loans below $10k

Oh, y’all. I feel so good and so different about this year. I see so many people setting goals with numbers – they want to make so much money or grow their followings by so much, but can I be honest? I truly feel like at this point I’m just shooting to keep doing what I love. It seems like each year I get older the more I realize the low value in things and money and the high value in just enjoying the little things. I’m already so grateful for our life, our families, our little pup. I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings for us – good and bad.

I’ll be sharing my word for this year with y’all next week!
