I’m so, so excited to be sharing another project launch with y’all! This project has probably been one of my favorites that I’ve worked on this year. Chelsea was such an amazing client to work with, and I’m so happy with how everything turned out – including a few new custom features that I added to her site!
Chelsea got in touch with me a few months ago with interest to update her branding and get a whole new blog design for the blog she runs with her (now) husband! She had big dreams for her design, which meant instead of just getting her a new look we also migrated her blog from Blogger to WordPress! I love being able to do more custom features, and I knew a self-hosted WordPress blog was going to be the way to go.
It didn’t take long whatsoever to know that I was going to love this project. She sent over some really amazing blogs that she was inspired by and loved the look of, and then this inspiration board: swoon! I love working with soft colors when I can! While we were working together, we had to keep two things in mind: the first is that this is a blog she’s been writing on with her (now) husband so we didn’t want the design to be too feminine. The other? She mentioned that the words she wants her new brand to embody are sophisticated, beautiful, and feminine.
I know I said it before, but I am so happy with how the design for this brand (and the blog) turned out. We kept the colors soft and mostly neutral with pops of blush as well as hints of gold throughout the design. I have to admit: I wasn’t sure at first how the gold would look with the softer colors, but I think it turned out really well.
The blog design turned out so well! I loved being able to create a unique look for the blog that I haven’t done before for other sites I’ve worked on, including a more custom look for the Post Info above and below the actual entry. In addition to that, I also added some custom icons to the side of her blog because Chelsea felt it was important to have her icons be seen when the user first lands on the site. The great thing about those icons? Well, they scroll with the page! How fun!
My absolute favorite part about this whole project? The About page! I pushed myself to think outside of the box and create a truly unique design that would complement her Home page design. It took some extra development work to get it looking just right, but I think it was totally worth it in the long run. What you can’t see in the shot above is that below “a few of our favorite things” there are 4 images with little text below them. So, so fun!
