You guys. I am so bummed. I only read two books last month. I was going to say I didn’t know what happened, but I do: I got really into Project Life last month, and I ended up spending a lot of my free time doing that instead of reading. I also spent 8 days back home, 2 of them basically only travel days, so I wasn’t reading as much as trying to just enjoy time with our families.
I had five books checked out at the end of August that I ended up renewing. I finished these two books and returned the two others with plans to revisit them someday.
Anyway, here are my recaps from last month:
Proof of Forever
I love this book! It’s compared to Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and I would certainly say it is, in fact, similar. I started this book in the middle of August, and I knew I was actually interested in finishing it so I picked it back up and managed to finish it within a few days. I’ll tell you: when I originally saw this book I thought it was going to be about a high school relationship, and it’s totally different. It’s actually about a friendship between four teen girls, and the chapters switch between characters. I really enjoyed it overall!
Suicide Notes from Beautiful Girls
Okay, here’s another one that I didn’t really know what to expect when I grabbed it. I saw it at Target, and I ended up putting it on hold at the library. It looked short compared to the other books I had checked out, so I decided to go on ahead and dive in. I was a little surprised at this book. It’s very much an edge-of-your-seat type book. However, I wasn’t happy with the ending. The last things that happen are written in a way that you can assume what happens, but I finished the book and had so many questions. Even though I wasn’t happy with the ending, overall I was happy that it was a pretty quick read and interesting enough that I didn’t want to put it down.
For this month and probably the remainder of the year I’m going back to the digital way of reading with my Kindle! I’ve had so much fun visiting and checking out books from the library (and being called Matilda by D for how many I’ve brought home at once), but I really like being able to read a chapter or two in bed before trying to sleep, so I dug out my sidekick!
As always, if you’re interested in seeing what I’m currently reading, my ratings and reviews for previous books, or what’s on my to-read list, you’re welcome to find me on Goodreads!
