I wasn’t going to post anything like this this year, but now that the year is wrapping up, I thought it would be a fun share! For several years now, I’ve struggled making lists for my family and D. It’s like I can’t think of one single thing that I want that I couldn’t buy myself, so it’s hard to think of things I’d like for them to get me.
This year, to make things a little easier, I started thinking about what I want, but wouldn’t buy for myself. The only two things on this list that don’t fall into that category is Amy Poehler’s book and the cookware set. My parents were going to help out with D’s gift this year since it’s pretty pricey, but I told my mom I would take the cookware set in exchange, so we went out on Black Friday and nabbed it for a steal. D and I were super stoked that we got it because it’s one less thing we have to worry about while I’m there next week.
Also, I’ve been playing around with WishBin, which is a new way to collect items into one wishlist. This is super amazing if you need to give people specific things and where they’re available. I so needed this with my family this year as some of my wanted items were only available in certain places online.
A funny thing that I’ve learned about myself over the last few years is that I prefer giving gifts over receiving them. Don’t get me wrong, I love getting presents as much as the next girl, but I love seeing the faces of my loved ones when they open their gift and it’s something they maybe only would have dreamed of getting. I’ve gotten my dad that way several times, and this year I can’t wait to get D the same way!
Anyway! What’s on your wishlist this year? Are you more of a giver than a receiver? Let’s chat about it in the comments!
