It feels like it was just yesterday that everyone was making plans and setting goals for 2014. Now this year is almost up, and it’s time to get focused on the new year and what we want for our businesses and brands. To get a head-start on this goal-setting journey we’re taking a goal-setting blog tour! Tune in every Monday during the month of December. There will be a lineup of totally awesome creative ladies sharing their top 5 goals for 2015 along with a helpful tip on how you can set meaningful goals too!
Tour Line-up: Dec. 1 – Kia of Without Rival Creative Co. // Dec. 8 – ME! // Dec. 15 – Keizra of Vida Luxe Studio // Dec. 22 – Meagen of Forth and Wild // Dec. 29 – Clarissa of Five 12 Studio
With my holiday break and the new year right around the corner, I’ve been spending spare moments thinking about what I want to accomplish in 2015. It’s weird to think that next year will be the first year that I’m freelancing full-time throughout the entire year (without school nagging at me on the side). It will also mark my third year anniversary of blogging, which has me reflecting and brainstorming on where I want the blog to go in the coming years.
With all this thinking about next year, when Kia reached out to me to be a part of the goal setting blog tour, I immediately said yes! I love setting goals, so it was a no brainer to hop in the tour lineup! I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about what my goals would be for this post, and I’ve narrowed down to these most important ones:
- Make our house our home in sc – Furnishing a three bedroom, 1700 sq ft house is going to take some time, as is figuring out what pieces we want to decorate with, not just the big things. I know we won’t be in South Carolina forever, but we’ll certainly be there long enough to want our house to actually feel like home. I can’t wait to do that throughout at least 8-9 months next year.
- Double my income from this year – It has been really amazing to see how my income has changed in the months of freelancing full-time compared to all the months I was working while in school. Spending the first five months of this year focusing on my final semester, my big senior show, and D leaving for bootcamp + moving home held me back a bit, so I’m confident this is a goal I can accomplish.
- Grow my brand – I was thinking about this one for a question Elise asked in the Hey Sweet Pea Facebook group last week, and in my heart, I can feel this one. I’ve got a few ideas on how I want to expand the KW brand in 2015, but nothing is making a big leap out at me yet. I know that expanding and growing the brand is what I need to do; I just need to figure out how to do it in a way that’s right for me and the brand.
- Bring a little lifestyle back to the blog – This is one that I’ve been thinking about for several weeks now and will elaborate on in January. Over the last 6ish months I’ve shared soo many tips on blogging and business, and I stepped away from sharing more lifestyle related posts. Although I looove sharing all of those tips, I know that I can’t keep this blog going for years to come on just those alone. So, I’m brainstorming ways I can get back to why I started this blog in the first place. That may seem a little vague, but again, I’ll be elaborating more on it in January!
My tip for setting goals: Create a plan for accomplishing them! I think so many of us fail at our goals (big and small) because we set them, and we don’t have an actionable plan for accomplishing them. I like to do this by setting a 90 day plan (or longer, depending on how long the goal is for), so that I can figure out what I need to do within those however many months to get my goals accomplished. This can also be done for monthly goals!
To help you accomplish your goals for 2015 (share those in the comments!) I’ve created a super simple 90 day plan worksheet that you can use for four main goals! Of course, you can print this off a few times and use it throughout the year, but if nothing else it’ll be a great start for you!
