Last month was the end of my Happiness Project, and in the recap I mentioned that I’d be working on continuing to share my goals throughout the year just in a bit of a different way. Honestly, after a year of sharing goals ( business, blog, and personal ) it just seems strange not to continue sharing. So here’s to the start of a new monthly series!
Inspired by many other ladies, I decided to share a few goals each month that I’m working on at the time as well as how the previous month went. The point of this primarily is to make me more accountable when it comes to goals. It’s one thing to simply share “I want to do X, Y, and Z,” but it’s another to say “Hey, I really sucked it up last month and got a whopping nothing accomplished.” I mean come on, how embarrassing!
Before getting to my goals I just wanted to share a few things. . .
I mentioned yesterday that I’ve been working on reflecting and planning for this year, and I’m so happy to say that I’ve been doing this mostly with Lara Casey’s Powersheets. I had seen a bunch of my new favorite people talking about how great they were, so last month ( or November? ) I decided it was time to invest in success for this year and grabbed my own set. I am so. freaking. happy. that I did. These sheets are amazing. Not only are they great for business planning, but they also exist to help you focus on what really matters in life. These sheets have opened my eyes to the bigger picture goals, among other things, which brings me to my next thing:
I’ve got five big goals for this year. I finally wrote them all down last night and started planning how to reach each of them. It’s scary, mostly because I know that 2014 is going to be a really interesting year. However, to stay true to myself, my business, and my life in general these are the goals I need to make. I mean, sheesh, I felt like I was practically being called to write these down.
The point of sharing these things? Throughout this series you may or may not see a pattern in my goals. This is because the goals I want to spend the most time on will reflect those five big goals that Lara’s Powersheets helped me uncover. However, I do hope to share an additional goal or two outside of these that reflect where I currently am in the year.
So, my goals for January:
- Set work / life boundaries ( as I currently feel that I have none, which is no bueno )
- Share more tips + personal posts ( I’ve got a big personal post that I still am on the fence of sharing. The line on sharing is so hard to find )
- Start tracking business expenses ( and continue this each month )
- Drink more water and do at least 30 minutes of yoga every day
- Start cleaning out my childhood room ( old clothes, books, magazines, and junk as I prepare the room for me at where I am in life now )
Looking at these goals they seem so little, but what I’m working toward in each of them.. wow! I hope to look back on these next month and say that I did well. We’ll see!
Before I go, I want to encourage each of you to check out Lara’s Powersheets. They’re for every person, business woman or not, blogger or not, woman or not. These are going to transform your life. ( If you’re a little unsure, you can get a great preview of what to expect in her 2014 Goal Setting series. )
Lastly, if you’re working towards a goal ( or goals ) feel free to share them in the comments! I’d love to help you be more accountable when it comes to your goals, too!
