As a designer one of the most difficult things you encounter with your business is pricing. For most freelancers, especially those just starting, usually are undercharging for the work and the time they spend working. However, when you’re considering to raise your rates you worry that clients won’t pay for what you feel your work is worth.
Unfortunately all of this has been weighing heavy on my mind lately. I find myself not wanting to charge too much because I’m a student, but then frustrated when I get a difficult client or if something takes longer than I had planned. I’ve also been thinking a lot about my own financial need.
Because of this I’ve made the difficult decision of raising my rates. To some people the new prices may seem a bit high, but I am also announcing that from now on I will only be taking on three clients per month. I’m confident that those few clients will receive the best possible work, which is part of the reason for the rate increase.
I wanted to share this decision with you all because I know many of you like to keep up with my design business. I also want to share that I am already entirely booked for March. Spots are filling up fast, so if you’re interested in me doing some work for you, be sure to email me soon to secure your spot!
