I’m really excited to announce a new project for my blog. Kate approached me a while back about collaborating, and it wasn’t long until she came up with a perfect idea. Each month we’re going to take a company and redesign their logo then create some marketing materials to go along with the new look! The hook is that we’re going to be focusing on old companies. So the project: we’re each going to take the same company and do the redesign with our own style. We’ll be sharing each other’s posts on our own so you can check out our different styles and how we approached the process.
Today we are officially launching with Ballantine Brewery, which was introduced in the 1840s. Peter Ballantine started the brewery and ran it for several years before he died. Something awesome about the brewery we found was that it was largely associated with sports. In the 1940s and 50s, Ballantine Brewery sponsored the New York Yankees.
Although the classic Ballantine logo included three well known rings, I decided to go a different route and simplify the logo (I’m sure you guys have noticed simplicity is my thing). I’m really excited about the look and feel of this design. I think that the slab serif font really captures the feel of the brewery. I also decided to go with a different bottle than the traditional beer bottle because it seemed to fit the classy, simplistic logo.
I would love to know what you guys think of the design! Also, be sure to check out Kate’s post to see how she designed for Ballantine!
